Luke first came to Germany as an exchange student at Universität Freiburg in 2011. While there he interned at the Zentrum für Erneuerbare Energien, rewriting their English-language website, and also worked as a staff writer for a Canadian men's magazine.

After completing his year abroad and earning a B.A. in International Relations from The University of Texas, Luke worked as an intern on the Ausschuss für Umwelt, Naturschutz und Reaktorsicherheit at the German Bundestag in Berlin. There he briefed elected officials prior to, and then observed, foreign delegation meetings and committee hearings. He also conducted research, wrote German-language reports, and presented background information for proposed bills, committee fact-finding missions, and the 2012 UN Climate Change Conference in Doha.

In 2013 Luke moved to Ulm and began providing English services. These include teaching English to professionals in corporate environments, editing marketing materials prior to publication, translating technical documentation in the extruded plastics sector, and giving English-language presentations on behalf of companies in the health insurance industry.
